Student Academic Mentor

As one of the top-performing students in the Object-Oriented Programming Using Java course at IIT Madras, I was invited to serve as a Student Academic Mentor for subsequent batches.

The role presented a unique challenge. I was not only responsible for helping students understand fundamental and advanced Java concepts, but also for continuously evaluating and strengthening my own understanding of the language. Teaching quickly revealed that knowing how to write code and knowing how to explain it are two very different skills.

Managing regular mentoring sessions for more than 100 students added another layer of complexity. Organizing discussions, addressing a wide range of questions, and ensuring that every student remained engaged required careful planning and effective communication.

This experience helped me develop not only my technical expertise in Java and object-oriented programming, but also my leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
